Gold Standard also design the strongest processes to measure the substantial co-benefits that positively impact the economy, health, welfare and environment of local communities. These co-benefits are measured, reported and verified.
Gold Standard was established in 2003 by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and other international NGOs as a best practice standard to ensure projects that reduced carbon emissions under the UN’s Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) also delivered on their dual mandate to foster sustainable development.
2011: 21,000 credits delivered to two emitters under contract obligations
2010: 14,000 GFFOs received from four projects
2009: 11,200 Greenhouse Friendly credits received (GFFOs). The first GFFOs issued in Australia
2008: Greenhouse Friendly: one of the first companies accredited under the Australian Federal Government's carbon credit certification program.
